Abstract
Language and terminology around diversity and inclusion is constantly evolving, and can be confusing. We know that one of the biggest barriers to progressing inclusion work is a fear of saying the wrong thing. This session will talk you through the key terms you need to be aware of, help you understand best practice when it comes to inclusive language and, most importantly, why any of this matters. We will also help you be prepared for the inevitable missteps and disagreements that you will experience when it comes to language as you progress along your inclusion journey. This session will give you and your team confidence in speaking about and understanding the inclusion landscape, whilst empowering you to work collectively on shared definitions that will help everyone communicate more effectively.
How This Connects to the Sustainability Theme
We need to learn the language to use to talk about inclusive, sustainable futures.
